Create these cute minimal Easter scandi easter bunnies from clay and pepper!
Easter is just around the corner and for us here in the UK it comes with the potential of being able to finally meet with six other people outside. It’s been a really long lockdown, and so Easter feels like a real light at the end of what has felt a long and gloomy tunnel. Of course, we can still only meet outside, but fingers crossed for some good weather and some family celebrations in the Spring sun. Now that we have a little one in the family and she’s fully mobile, an egg hunt and some cute Easter table decorations are definitely in order! I love speckled looking pottery, and loved the look of these little egg shaped bunnies on Nordic Nest, so I decided to have a go at making my own using clay and pepper! Tag me on instagram or let me know over on Pinterest if you have a go, I always love to see how your projects turn out! Keep reading for the step by step guide…
Ground peppercorn
1.
Cut off some clay and roll it into an egg shape with a flat base. Our kittens are so interested in everything it was impossible to photograph this without these little feet too!
2.
Sprinkle some peppercorn onto your surface and carefully roll your egg shape into this to create a speckled effect all over. This will be your bunny’s body.
3.
Cut off two smaller portions of clay and create two long petal or leaf shapes from this. These will be your bunny ears.
4.
Press these into the pepper on both sides. Pinch the base and using water, mould this onto your bunny’s body. Repeat with the ear on the other side. I positioned mine quite near the top and angled them straight up, which I think looks a bit more like rabbit ears.
5.
Add any pepper to any spaces and leave to dry for a good day or two.
